Ranger/Elem. It seemed easier to me than a Warrior/Monk but I had been playing for a while with my Wa/Mo so maybe it`s just that I had the game figured out by then.

I have a W/E which is quite good but lacks healing properties
I have been told that a Mo/Ne is pretty cool.

A Ranger/Elementalist is the first one I had. When you start, you'll be in "presearing." Be sure to get all the skills from there before going to "postsearing." You can get them later on by a skills trader anyways, but better to get them first.

R/E was also my first. The good thing about a ranger is that you're generally at the back and not considered a threat, but you do have quite nice armour in case

'Pre-searing' is the training ground of the game, if you will. It's where you get basic skills, choose a secondary proffesion, and learn to play.

'Post-searing' is everything afterwards, the 'real' game so to speak.

Oh, and as people have said, Ranger is a brilliant class to start off as. It's easy to learn the basics, they're powerful and have little trouble finding groups, and they have good armour so's ya don't die all that much.

P.S. - Keep hold of any 'Black Dye' you find in Pre-searing, it's worth several thousand gold Post-searing. It's not worth the 200 gold or whatever people try to buy it for Pre.

Have fun.

Get familiar with guildwiki. It helps a lot when starting out. Here is a link to the new player info:

yeah i've started of yesterday with a ranger, just got my secundary profession, elementalist.

right now i'm not dealing to much dmg (atleast i think so) i do dmg between 8 and 12 while being lvl 5.

with powershot i do fairly more dmg, between 20 and 25 or something.
i do have some nice items in reserve, cause when i bought the game i got this activation code to get bonus items.

i just hope i get to higher lvls soon cause im needing 8 or 9 (can't remember) in markmanship, in order to use my bonus item bow.

also, i have 4 skill points left, but i need to find a ranger skill trainer somewhere...

anyone has some tips for me while presearing?
(i did went out to kill charr's together with some strong Wa/Mo to gain exp).

EDIT:
oh boy, i just did some reading on the gw wiki page and im immensily confused by all the quests that can be done in presearing.
which lvl should i be before i would go to postsearing? and what quests should i REALLY be doing before i go to postsearing?

EDIT 2:
in EDIT: i asked what quests i really should do before i would go over to postsearing, now i found http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Pre-Searing_checklist
that link. if i just do all the things which are displayed in that checklist i'd be ready for postsearing?

Thanks for reading this pile of 'crap'
